How to clean chicken feet
A step by step guide to cleaning chicken feet
- wash the chicken feet. If You’ve bought them from the store and they are packaged, wash them only for a few seconds. If the chicken feet are fresh, soak them in water for about an hour to remove the dirt and other residues.
- Fill a pot with water and just before it boild, reduce the heat and simmer the feet for about 30 seconds. If you want to make peeling easier, put the chicken feet in the pot with tongs and then take them out after about 30 seconds.
- Remove the nails of each toe at the first joint. If the nails are soft enough, you should be able to remove them easily with tweezers to keep more meat on the foot and if not, use scissors instead.
- Start peeling. if the feet were soaked and simmered according to the instructions, the skin should come off easily, but if not, you can peel them with a knife.
Since the skin and nails of chicken feet are not edible, they can’t be used for making stock or any sort of dish.
